USPS First Class International Tracking
*USPS First Class International has been removed from jdslabs.com due to excessive delays and lost pacakages encountered during the global pandemic. FedEx and UPS service remain reliable. Thank you!
The United States Postal Service (USPS) provides a "Customs ID" for all shipments travelling outside of the United States. Basic tracking is only available to select countries via USPS First Class International. You will receive an automated email from us with this customs number, which will allow you to view package acceptance (proof of shipment) and a few tracking points in the United States. Please understand that tracking stops for most shipments after the package departs the USA from an international postal hub. Our nearest hubs are HAZELWOOD, MO and CHICAGO, IL. No tracking will be reported beyond these points for ineligible packages. Your country's postal service will not be able to track the package!
USPS First Class International packages have a customs ID in the form of L##########US. Most of these packages can be tracked within the United States only. After the package departs the nearest international postal hub, tracking stops because the receiving country treats L##########US Customs IDs as normal mail. These barcodes are rarely traceable and your post office may have no record of the package. Registered Mail changes the "L" in the customs ID to "R", "C", or "E". In summary, the first letter of a customs ID indicates:
- L: Standard, non-registered mail. Tracking only to eligible countries.
- R or C: Registered mail, trackable.
- E: Express registered mail (EMS), trackable.
Final Delivery Service via USPS
USPS transfers packages to your country's local postal service, for example:
- Canada: Canada Post
- China: China Post
- India: India Post
- Netherlands: PostNL
- Germany: Deutsche Post (DHL)
- Spain: Correos
- United Kingdom: Royal Mail

International Shipping Policies
Customs Delays
Most international packages are delivered in the timeframes published above. However, customs delays sometimes occur. To minimize delays, please be sure to provide an accurate shipping address and telephone number!
Duties and Taxes
All duties and taxes for international shipments are the responsibility of the customer. JDS Labs is not responsible for any extra charges once the original package has been shipped. We have no advance knowledge of such fees, cannot manipulate the values, and cannot pay potential fees for you.
If the customer refuses to pay these extra charges, return shipping expenses and any additional fees due will be deducted from the order upon refund. In the event that extra charges exceed the order value, we may charge those amounts to the credit card originally used for the order.
Insurance
JDS Labs insures all international packages with subtotals over $175 USD. Shipping insurance for lower valued orders can optionally be added during checkout. Insurance provides coverage in the event that your package is lost or damaged. Please understand that our insurance provider requires a signed, written statement from the buyer, and only accepts claims submitted between 45 and 90 days after shipment. Due to customs delays, delivery time is not guaranteed for any service.
